Spirit Flight Hit by Gunfire

Spirit Flight Hit by Gunfire

November 15, 2024 - Earlier this week Spirit Flight 951 was hit by gunfire while trying to land in Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince. The flight safely diverted to the Dominican Republic. The FAA has prohibited U.S. airlines from flying to Haiti for 30 days after gangs shot the Spirit Flight and two other flights on Monday.

Our EAP Critical Incident Response Program (CIRP) provided immediate support to the crew onboard, meeting Flight Attendants at the airport to assist them and communicate with AFA International and the Spirit MEC in the aftermath of the incident.

We are proud of the crew of NK Flight 951 and incredibly thankful they are physically safe. Flight Attendants are aviation’s first responders and last line of defense in aviation security. Our Union will continue to support and comfort the crew as they process the incident.

AFA EAP is always available for any Flight Attendant at 800-424-2406. Take care of one another.
