AFA Statement on Spirit jetBlue Merger Announcement
Washington, D.C. (July 28, 2022) — JetBlue and Spirit Airlines today announced that their boards of directors have approved a definitive merger agreement. Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) International President Sara Nelson, representing Flight Attendants at Spirit Airlines, released the following statement on the proposed merger:
"Mergers take time and various approvals. AFA will only add our support to any deal that includes clear plans for Flight Attendants to share in the benefits of the merger. Our job is to improve conditions for workers and to be strategic about how we do that. AFA represents Flight Attendants at Spirit. Separate from this announcement, we continue to push forward in regular contract negotiations.”
