Ahead of Strike Vote, Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendants to Picket Wednesday, October 9th at HNL
HONOLULU (October 7, 2019) – On Wednesday, October 9th, Hawaiian Airlines flight attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), will demonstrate at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) to protest protracted contract negotiations with Hawaiian Airlines management.
Wednesday’s demonstration comes on the heels of last week's announcement that the flight attendants at Hawaiian Airlines will take a strike vote.
Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendants’ pay has fallen in comparison with the rest of the industry while the cost of living and medical expenses continue to rise. After twenty years of calm labor relations, Hawaiian Airlines flight attendants have taken their fight for a fair contract public.
Negotiations will continue in Honolulu later this month. Management has proposed minimal pay increases while demanding concessions in 401(k) retirement and healthcare premiums. This proposal from Hawaiian management would leave many Flight Attendants earning less than they do today, while Hawaiian makes record profits.
