Tell Congress: Two crises. One vote. Open the government today.
October 9, 2025 - Millions of federal workers we depend on for safety and security are furloughed, including tens of thousands of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employees. Workers who perform “essential operations,” like Air Traffic Controllers and TSA Officers, are working without pay — and without the support of other workers who normally help them do their jobs and keep us safe, like safety inspectors.
Workers should never be used as pawns in political conflict. We need a bipartisan agreement that immediately ends this shutdown and maintains affordable healthcare for all of us. Without an agreement on this by November 1, healthcare premiums will skyrocket for everyone in 2026.
There are two crises to solve with one vote and Senate Majority Leader John Thune has the power to reach a bipartisan agreement that resolves both of them today. One vote to end the cruelty of using millions of dedicated workers as pawns in a dangerous political game. One vote to ensure our safety and security.
During a shutdown, federal workers like air traffic controllers still come to work just like they do year round, typically six days a week, 10 hours a day. But their pay stops and now OMB Director Russell Vought is threatening to break the law and refuse to give them back pay after the shutdown too. Air traffic controllers and transportation security officer’s commitment to their jobs and the oath they took to our constitution and the American people, just like millions of other federal workers, is something elected leaders should emulate, not exploit.
Tell Congress: Two crises. One vote. Open the government today.
