Washington, DC (June 7, 2017) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) today issued the following statement after a report that the U.S. Travel Association may have failed to respect U.S. law and disclose that its political activities on behalf of Emirates Airline and Etihad Airways are funded by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government.

“U.S. Travel is waging a campaign against American workers on behalf of foreign entities, and the American people deserve full transparency into their funding,” said Sara Nelson, AFA International President. “The organization has acknowledged taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from the UAE government-owned airlines, Emirates and Etihad, according to news reports. It’s time for U.S. Travel to comply with the law and fully disclose its foreign funding. American families and consumers deserve to know who is working against them.”

AFA supports the Air Line Pilots Association's call for a Department of Justice investigation to determine if the U.S. Travel Association violated the U.S. Foreign Agents Registration Act and the U.S. Lobbying Disclosure Act.
