Flight Attendant Union Reaches Pay Improvements, Summer Reliability Deals with American Wholly-Owned Regionals
WASHINGTON, DC (June 15, 2022) -- The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), representing Flight Attendants at American’s wholly-owned regionals Envoy, Piedmont, and PSA, have reached agreements with the airlines to increase pay, provide a retention bonus, summer reliability incentive program, and significantly improve commuter benefits.
“This is going to be a tough summer and we’re glad American and their wholly-owned airlines decided to work with us to provide incentives, make it more manageable to get to work, and attract new hires to the skies,” said AFA International President Sara Nelson. “What’s good for the crew is good for the airline and the passengers who expect a safe, reliable travel experience.”
-
Increases starting pay for Flight Attendants to $27+/hour while bringing Flight Attendants who are at pay rates below that up to $27+/hour.
-
Any Flight Attendant at a pay step above the new starting rate will receive a $3,000 retention bonus.
-
Summer reliability incentive bonus up to $4,500. Three bonus periods:
-
Bonus Period 1 - $1,000
-
Bonus Period 2 - $1,500
-
Bonus Period 3 - $2,000
-
(All Flight Attendants are eligible for this bonus. A Flight Attendant must be on active status during the bonus period. However, this is not a perfect attendance bonus. In each bonus period, a Flight Attendant is allowed to take scheduled vacation, and some unscheduled absences. This will not disqualify a Flight Attendant from earning the bonus in a bonus period.)
-
Increased commuter benefits — additional hotel rooms, reimbursements depending on airline
