We Need Vaccine Access Around the World for Our Jobs
March 20, 2021 — The COVID-19 pandemic is a global public health and economic crisis. In order to defeat COVID and secure our jobs and industry, we need people and countries around the world to have access to COVID vaccines in order to get back to normal.
Millions of people around the world may not get COVID-19 vaccines until as late as 2024 unless the U.S. supports a temporary waiver on WTO intellectual property so all countries can have the production capacity to get vaccines to their people. People before profits.
"The prospect of billions of people waiting years to be vaccinated poses a health threat to even the richest countries," reports the New York Times. "One example: In Britain, where the vaccine rollout has been strong, health officials are tracking a virus variant that emerged in South Africa, where vaccine coverage is weak. That variant may be able to blunt the effect of vaccines, meaning even vaccinated people might get sick."
In order for our industry to fully recover, we have to beat COVID and that means we need everyone from every country to be vaccinated.
Urge President Biden to Support Vaccine Access Around the World.
