Veteran Visibility Rally
March 28, 2025 - AFA helped host a rally for Veterans just blocks from the White House this morning. Veterans stood together to say “we will not be erased.” AFA-CWA International Vice President Keturah Johnson, and combat veteran, spoke at the rally.
AFA Int'l VP Keturah Johnson and Union Veterans Council Executive Director William Attig at the Visible Veterans rally today in Washington, D.C.
Excerpts from Keturah’s speech:
“One in three federal workers is a veteran. Tens of thousands are veterans who came home from their service with a disability.
“Veterans rely on the VA. I rely on the VA, but the VA also relies on its Veterans.
“When the Administration fires federal workers, they’re firing veterans. When they fire VA workers, they’re firing veterans—and the people who make sure veterans get the care we earned and need…
“When I raised my hand to serve, I didn’t get to pick and choose which Americans I was fighting for. I didn’t get to say which rights I was protecting. I fought for all Americans. I fought for every single one of your rights.
“In the labor movement, we believe an injury to one is an injury to all. In the Army, we say “we all bleed green.” Make no mistake, a tiny group of billionaires is coming for every single one of us. They’re trying to divide us so they can rip us off, tear us down and exploit us…
“Last night, Donald Trump launched an all-out assault on federal workers—and on all working people. He tore up their union contracts. He said he was taking away their bargaining rights. He specifically said he was doing it because workers at the VA—veterans who serve other veterans—had filed too many complaints to fight Elon Musk’s plans to fire dedicated federal workers.
“No. It’s time to say no. It’s time for the working people of this country to seize our power and say HELL NO. No to job cuts and social security cuts and healthcare cuts for us while billionaires get tax cuts.
“It’s time to say NO to business as usual when this is anything but usual.”
