We Protect and Unite to End the Pandemic
July 10, 2021 — Fox News commentator Tomi Lahren called Flight Attendants "Nazis of the air" yesterday and sparked outrage and concern across media platforms. Our union responded to denounce the comments and call for unity to end the pandemic. "This is the kind of hateful rhetoric that has kept us from acting like Americans, mobilizing a national response in solidarity in the face of this crisis," said AFA President Sara Nelson. "We take pride in saving lives. Turn off Tomi and join us. #EndThePandemic." Read the whole Twitter thread.
ALPA President Joe DePete and many other leaders in the flight deck spoke out forcefully in support of Flight Attendants and aviation safety.
Have you taken the Unruly Passenger Flight Attendant Survey yet? This survey will help us gather information about Flight Attendants’ experiences with unruly passengers onboard, and quantify the extent and nature of this issue.
The federal mask mandate is in place through September 13th. These are the key reasons this mandate remains in place:
- Not everyone has access to vaccine including children under 12 and others.
- Vaccines protect people from serious illness, but vaccinated people can still carry the virus and variants, extending the pandemic.
- International and business travel is still not back. We need all travel back to recover fully and that requires confidence that air travel will not continue to spread the virus.
