#EXTENDPSP Update:

Yesterday afternoon, Congress extended the deadline to avert a government shutdown until December 18th. This means we have less than one week to get this #ReliefNow legislation over the finish line.

We need the Senate, House, and the Administration to get to work on a relief package. There has been some progress but they continue to argue over some outstanding issues which are not related to the PSP.

Thank you for continuing to Tweet up to every member of Congress with thousands of your personal stories and demanding action to extend the PSP and deliver #ReliefNow immediately.

Congress MUST hear from us, our family members and friends, everyday.

Today and throughout the weekend, BURN UP THE PHONES! Make three calls to your Senators and Representatives every day.

SENATE: 888-848-4824
HOUSE: 888-907-9365

"Hello, I am a constituent calling to tell my (Senator/Representative) that we need emergency relief and an extension of the Payroll Support Program TODAY. We are out of work and without healthcare. Do not leave Washington, D.C. without passing emergency relief for our families. Do your job. Thank you.”

Tweet Your Representative and Senators (add pictures of you in uniform to each and tag in @afa_cwa so we can amplify!):

AFA Joins Aviation Unions and Industry to urge CDC to Prioritize Aviation Workers as Essential in Vaccine Distribution

This week, we sent a letter to the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, asking for aviation workers as frontline workers, to be prioritized in COVID-19 vaccine distribution.

"As our country eagerly looks towards the FDA approval of this lifesaving vaccine, aviation workers will once again rise to the occasion. The vaccine distribution effort will be complex and involve extensive collaboration between federal and state governments along with private organizations. To succeed, the United States will need every asset available to perform optimally — including the frontline workers that keep our nation’s safe and efficient air transportation system operational.

Given the scientific, implementation and ethical considerations, we ask that you prioritize these frontline aviation workers in the next phase of vaccine allocation (Phase 1b) after health workers and residents in long term facilities in your upcoming recommendations to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)."

AFA to FAA: Keep 14-Day Quarantine for COVID-19 Exposures

We sent a letter to the Federal Aviation Administration on December 5, 2020 concerning new CDC guidance stating COVID-19 quarantine periods could be reduced to 10 or 7 days.

We have urged the FAA to "maintain (if not strengthen) the current SAFO 20009 Rev. 1c recommendations that 14 days of quarantine be provided to any Flight Attendant potentially exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19."
