AFA Statement on United Airlines New CEO Scott Kirby

CHICAGO (May 20, 2020) — Scott Kirby will become United Airlines CEO today. Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) United President Ken Diaz, representing 25,000 Flight Attendants at United Airlines, released the following statement:

"United Flight Attendants thank Oscar Munoz for centering United back on our people business. Focus on people will be more important than ever as we navigate the impact of COVID-19 on our airline and industry. We are in unprecedented times that will require Scott Kirby, Brett Hart and the entire executive team to work with our union. Scott's operations background will be crucial to bringing our airline back as quickly as possible. Our union will make sure management remembers there are real people behind the numbers. We look forward to working with Scott to get results that matter to the people of United Airlines and those who fly with us.”
