Flight Attendant Union Welcomes 1.3 Million United Food and Commercial Workers To AFL-CIO Family

The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) issued the following statement after the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) announced the affiliation of 1.3 members with the AFL-CIO:

“Today is an exciting day for working families! By joining together under the AFL-CIO umbrella, we not only strengthen our collective voice, but continue to build power for the working class. Together, we are building a broad based movement to remove the blocks to democracy and enact real change across the country.

“We welcome our UFCW sisters and brothers to the labor federation and look forward to future collaboration as we advance the issues that matter most to working women and men. Together we are stronger.”

The Association of Flight Attendants is the world’s largest Flight Attendant union. Focused 100 percent on Flight Attendant issues, AFA has been the leader in advancing the Flight Attendant profession for 67 years. Serving as the voice for Flight Attendants in the workplace, in the aviation industry, in the media and on Capitol Hill, AFA has transformed the Flight Attendant profession by raising wages, benefits and working conditions. Nearly 60,000 Flight Attendants come together to form AFA, part of the 700,000-member strong Communications Workers of America (CWA), AFL-CIO. Visit us at www.afacwa.org .
