Flight Attendants Meet with New Congress
January 6, 2023 - AFA Government Affairs activists visited Capitol Hill last week to meet members-elect to brief them on Flight Attendant issues. The start of the 118th Congress may be remembered for the historic vote to elect a new House speaker -- which, for the first time in a century, took multiple rounds and multiple days. Ultimately, after 15 rounds, Kevin McCarthy was elected as Speaker of the House.
Our union has several priorities for the new Congress and the upcoming FAA Reauthorization Bill including, but not limited to, stopping disruptive passenger incidents with a banned passenger list; improving cabin air quality; updating evacuation standards for certifying cabin configurations and proper staffing; and establishing cabin temperature standards.
