Highlights of AFL-CIO's 28th Constitutional Convention
AFA members Ken Bridges and Bobbie Mas were recognized during the AFL-CIO's 28th Constitutional Convention in St. Louis, Missouri, on October 23rd, 2017. The convention highlighted AFA's recovery work alongside other union first responders after the devastating effects from Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria, the shooting in Las Vegas, and California Fires.

At the convention, AFA International President Sara Nelson was re-elected to serve on the AFL-CIO Executive Council.
In addition, all three AFL-CIO officers were re-elected for another term.
- Richard Trumka was re-elected as President.
- Liz Schuler was re-elected as Secretary-Treasurer.
- Tefere Gebre was re-elected as Executive Vice President. AFA International President Sara Nelson spoke in support of Tefere Gebre and seconded his nomination.
