WASHINGTON – The National Mediation Board has agreed with the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) that substantive evidence exists that Delta Air Lines interfered with a representation election of Delta Flight Attendants last year. AFA had filed charges of interference on behalf of Delta Flight Attendants.

Reinstating September 11th United Flight Numbers Disrespects Employees, Passengers and Families Still Grieving Loss of Heroes

Chicago - The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, representing Flight Attendants at United Airlines and 20 other carriers, today advised United Airlines management that using flight numbers 93 and 175 is not an option and that these flight numbers should have already been permanently retired. The union implores the airline to respond quickly out of respect for the Flight Attendants, Pilots, Customer Service Agents and passengers who lost their lives on those flights as well as all of the families, friends and colleagues who still grieve the loss of our heroes.

National Mediation Board Today Mails Ballots to Nearly 25,000 Flight Attendants

Washington, DC – Today, the voting process begins for nearly 25,000 United, Continental and Continental Micronesia Flight Attendants in an election to determine union representation.  Voting instructions were mailed by the National Mediation Board (NMB) today and Flight Attendants at the new United Airlines are excited to be unified in the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) in just six weeks when the voting results are announced on June 29, 2011.

First Flight Attendant Contract Signed at United Airlines 65 Years Ago

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), the largest Flight Attendant union run by and for Flight Attendants, this week honored the 65th anniversary of the first Flight Attendant contract and reflected on the evolution of the unique profession. On April 26, 1946, United Flight Attendants, represented by AFA, signed the first Flight Attendant contract. That historic contract raised monthly pay, limited duty hours, set rest periods and established a grievance procedure. It laid the foundation for the Flight Attendant career that AFA continues to build on today.

National Mediation Board Announces Dates for Union Election

Washington, DC – The National Mediation Board (NMB) today announced the voting schedule for a representation election for United, Continental and Continental Micronesia Flight Attendants. Balloting instructions will be sent to the over 24,000 Flight Attendants on May 17 and voting will close June 29, 2011.

Washington, DC – AirTran Airways Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), ratified a two-year agreement today that includes pay increases and enhanced work rules for the over 2,000 Flight Attendants.

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) today issued support of the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) new program that will promote an alternate screening of crewmembers. The new program, sponsored by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) and the Air Transport Association (ATA), will begin testing later this year.
