U.S. Based Flight Attendants Ratify Contract and Norse Atlantic Airways Makes the Case for Most Worker Friendly Airline in the World

WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 29, 2022) — Following an historic pre-hire agreement, company neutrality in union organizing, an historic card check certification by the National Mediation Board, Norse Atlantic Airways U.S.-based Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, voted unanimously to ratify their first contract. The two-year deal locks in industry leading starting pay and job protections in the U.S., comprehensive healthcare, a 401k among and other key benefits.

“Norse Atlantic is demonstrating that low cost for consumers doesn’t have to mean low quality jobs for workers. With this ratified contract, Norse makes the case for being the number one airline in the world for workers and we encourage the traveling public to support it,” said Sara Nelson, AFA International President. “One of the first things the CEO did was reach out to AFA to strike a deal that recalled Flight Attendants to work who lost their jobs as some airlines went out of business during the pandemic. Long before the first flight took off, we had a negotiated agreement for protections to ensure jobs stay in the U.S., union neutrality to allow workers to decide on union representation without company interference, and a contract that Flight Attendants could vote on right away, including top starting pay in the industry. The Boeing 787s these crewmembers work on also provides the best airflow system, a key occupational safety issue for Flight Attendants,”

“This contract sets a new standard in aviation on pay and what can be achieved when management recognizes workers’ dignity and the importance of a union. We look forward to working together to implement the contract and make Norse an example for others to emulate.”

Norse Atlantic Airways is a Norwegian low-cost, long-haul airline with Flight Attendant bases in JFK and FLL. Founded in February 2021, the airline operates a fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft between Europe and North America, Berlin, London, Oslo and now Paris announced just today. Norse Atlantic offers two cabin choices, Economy and Premium, along with fare options that allow passengers to choose travel only or enhancements such as maximum baggage allowance, two meal services, an enhanced airport and onboard experience and increased ticket flexibility.

“I am constantly asked which airline is the most worker friendly. I am happy to encourage travelers to check out Norse Atlantic Airways and know you’re supporting a business that puts people first,” Nelson stated.

The airline expects to continue to grow and increase Flight Attendant jobs in the U.S. Bookings and more information about Norse is available at flynorse.com.
