Biden Administration Announces Plans to Open International Travel with Strict Procedures
WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 20, 2021) — Following the Biden administration's announcement requiring all international travelers coming into the U.S. to be fully vaccinated against COVID, Association of Flight Attendants-CWA International President Sara Nelson released the following statement:
"We applaud the Biden Administration for announcing plans to reunite families and open travel with strict procedures to ensure transportation doesn't aid in the spread of the virus. International travel is essential to the stability of our jobs and the full recovery of the U.S. airline industry, but recovery is only possible if we remain focused first on safety and health.
"We have a responsibility in aviation to keep everyone safe and do our part to end the pandemic. Air travel is one of the most controlled indoor spaces with layers of safety protocols that make it possible to serve our communities. The announcement today only increases our health and safety.
"Vaccination and consistent use of masks have been essential to stopping COVID-19. Let’s focus on putting COVID-19 in check together. Get vaxxed, wear a mask, be kind, and come fly with us!"
