Alaska AFA takes the contract fight to the picket line

Expedited negotiations with management broke down a few weeks ago. While Alaska management claimed they were committed to “top of industry” wages when negotiations started nearly a year ago, their proposals fail to meet that standard or compensate Alaska Flight Attendants for all of their time on the job.

As Alaska Airlines rakes in profits, launches new destinations, and takes delivery of new aircraft, Flight Attendants are on the frontlines making the airline a success without the pay and work rules to match the success of the airline.

Now, Flight Attendants are hitting the streets to take the fight public and pressure management to get serious about concluding negotiations. Alaska AFA held “pop-up” pickets last week leading up to a systemwide day of action scheduled for August 15th.

RSVP NOW for 8/15 Day of Action Locations/Times:

ANC, 1:30 to 3 PM
LAX, 10 to 11:30 AM
PDX, 10 AM to 12 PM
SAN, 10:30 AM to 12 PM
SEA, 12:30 to 2 PM
SFO, 10:30 AM to 12 PM

Hollywood Strikes Grow

July 28, 2023 - Actors went on strike after talks with studios broke down, joining film and television writers who have been on picket lines since May and deepening the disruption of scores of shows and movies.

Both SAG-AFTRA - Hollywood's largest union, representing 160,000 film and television actors - and the Writers Guild of America (WGA) are fighting for increases in pay and residuals in the streaming TV era plus assurances that their work will not be replaced by artificial intelligence (AI).

Join SAG-AFTRA and WGA on a picket line near you!

APFA Flight Attendants Authorize Strike Vote

July 28, 2023 - Our APFA flying partners at American Airlines will hold a strike authorization vote, following years without a raise and lengthy negotiations with management.

American is resisting much-needed contractual improvements for their workgroup, which address operational reliability challenges and improve work-life for Flight Attendants.
