AFA Statement on Calls to Resume TLV Flights

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 13, 2023) — Following calls from lawmakers to resume flights to Tel Aviv "as quickly as possible," the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA released the following statement:

“There is a government program that exists today and has since the early days of aviation: the Civil Reserve Air Fleet (CRAF). CRAF can be activated anytime to assist our country during war time activities. This covers private companies and addresses the concerns of the workforce as it triggers certain contractual provisions at unionized carriers. CRAF contractual provisions include voluntary assignment, increased pay, training, and protections associated with the unique features of the specific operations. This is not a call for the airlines to make. This program is well defined and simply requires government activation."
