WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 25, 2023) — Association of Flight Attendants-CWA President Sara Nelson released the following statement on the Teamsters' historic UPS agreement:

"The strike is our tactic, solidarity is our power. The right to strike is about encouraging agreement. It is fundamental to collective bargaining and the only countervailing force to capitalism that is otherwise unchecked. This is how we have an economy that works for all! The Teamsters led a brilliant contract campaign and strike preparation that made UPS get serious at the bargaining table and meet the needs of the workers who deliver every time for the company and our country. 

"This agreement was won by rank and file Teamsters organizing a credible strike threat, taking to the streets to "just picket for a just contract," and demonstrate the resolve of 340,000 UPS Teamsters, and all of us allies who were ready to stand with them. Their strategic and solid action changes the game and turns the tide on the gross, exponential growth of inequality over the past several decades. 

"This is how it's done! And this labor solidarity summer just got stronger. We're pushing power and shared prosperity back to the people. Congratulations to the UPS Teamsters rank and file members and kudos to the extraordinary leadership of my union brother, President Sean O'Brien!"
