The Busiest Travel Period of the Year in Full Swing
December 23, 2021 - The Christmas holiday travel period has already begun with TSA estimating nearly 30 million passengers December 20 through January 3rd. Passengers are reminded to arrive early, pack smart and be kind to TSA officers, Flight Attendants, passengers service agents and those who work throughout the transportation sector.
This week the FAA and TSA announced additional penalties for disruptive passengers—losing PreCheck status. “Clear consequences for bad actors is critical if we’re going to drop the record breaking number of disruptive passenger events,” said AFA President Sara Nelson. “This is a good move by the FAA and TSA. Coordination is key - almost as important as this action. Next up - banned passenger list.”
Our CWA Passenger Service Agent Siblings have faced the same abuse from disruptive passengers in the airport. CWA District 6 and Local 6001 produced "In This Together" ads to highlight the issue of passenger assault and calls on travelers to treat them with respect.
While the DOJ has moved to prioritize flight crew assault, passenger service agents have been left out. Support our CWA siblings by telling the Department of Justice to enforce the law and protect passenger service agents too >
