Thousands Picket in Support of Alaska AFA Negotiations
August 18, 2023 - On Tuesday, thousands of Alaska AFA Flight Attendants and our allies showed up to back out negotiations demands. Flight Attendants demand a contract that values the hard work and sacrifice that make Alaska Airlines successful! We will not back down from this fight! Forward! #PayUsOrCHAOS
On behalf of the Alaska AFA Negotiating Committee and Master Executive Council (MEC), thank you to everyone who joined us in person and virtually! The picket lines were filled with Flight Attendants, pilots, other airline workers, labor groups, family, friends, and community members. Among those who stood with us in solidarity were:
- Flight Attendants from Horizon, United, Hawaiian, Piedmont, Endeavor, Omni (AFA), American (APFA), Southwest (TWU), and Delta
- Pilots from Alaska, United, Delta (ALPA), Horizon (IBT), American (APA), and Southwest (SWAPA)
- State and Local Labor Federations from Alaska (Alaska AFL-CIO); Washington (WSLC); King County, WA (MLK Labor); Los Angeles County, CA (The LA Fed); San Mateo County, CA (San Mateo Labor Council); and San Diego County, CA (San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council)
- Fellow Union Members from CWA, SAG-AFTRA, WGA, AFSCME, IAM, UNITE HERE, SPEEA, TWU, IBEW, IBT, PROTEC17, IATSE, NALC, SEIU, LiUNA, SMART-TD, and Excelsior Workers Association
- Public officials including Congressman Adam Smith (WA-09), Seattle City Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda, and San Francisco Supervisor Matt Dorsey.
- An additional thank you to Congressman Adam Smith (WA-09) and Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) for their letters of support and Senator Jeff Merkley (OR) for tweeting in support of our fight for a contract.
