Flight Attendants Across Industry Unite for Worldwide Demonstrations to Demand Better Pay, Working Conditions
Historic demonstrations of Flight Attendants across three unions to push profession forward, battle corporate greed
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — On Tuesday, February 13, Alaska, Air Wisconsin, United, Frontier, American, Southwest and more, will picket outside 30 airports as part of a worldwide day of in the U.S., the U.K. and Guam to demand fair contracts with significant pay increases. This historic action is the first time Flight Attendants at 24 airlines, 100,000 Flight Attendants currently in contract negotiations, will protest in unison.
Flight Attendants do life saving work every day—from responding to medical emergencies, to de-escalating conflict, or fighting fires—but everyone recognizes just how important our work is when horrific accidents like Japan Airlines Flight 516 or Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 result in all lives on the plane saved. The flying public is behind our contract demands for fair pay for good reason.
Flight Attendants are working harder than ever with long days, short nights, more time away from family, and in some of the most difficult working conditions of our history. Some Flight Attendants haven’t had a raise in five years. Working conditions and pay have been eroded by consistent operational issues and cost of living significantly higher following the pandemic.
Airline management can afford fair deals. Airlines are flying more than ever before, launching new destinations, and taking delivery of new aircraft. Flight Attendants are demanding a fair share of the profits made through their hard work.
