Unions Representing U.S. Flight Attendants Call on DOT to Support Established Labor Standards and Deny NAI

The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), and the Transport Workers Union (TWU) called on the Department of Transportation (DOT) to reject an application for a foreign air carrier permit submitted by Norwegian Air International (NAI). In comments filed yesterday, the unions, representing over 80,000 Flight Attendants, urged the DOT to uphold the strong labor protections outlined in the U.S.-E.U. Air Transport Agreement (ATA) known as Open Skies.

Spirit Flight Attendants Reach Tentative Agreement On Improved Contract Terms

Washington, DC - Spirit Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), today announced a tentative agreement with management on a new contract that includes immediate economic improvements, as well as protection of industry-leading healthcare and key quality of life provisions. Frontier Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), today rejected new contract terms that would replace the equity and profit sharing portion of the current agreement. Frontier Airlines Flight Attendants Secure Tentative Agreement On Contract Improvements

Washington, DC – Frontier Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), recently announced a tentative agreement that would lock in pay, benefit and work rule improvements in exchange for the unpredictable return on equity and profit sharing. The tentative agreement includes benefits for the over 1,000 Flight Attendants, which would be implemented as mid-term contract improvements. AFA had been in discussions with management regarding changes to the Flight Attendant collective bargaining agreement prior to the purchase of the airline by Indigo Partners in December 2013.

Flight Attendant Union Applauds Congress For Taking Action Against Norwegian Air Outsourcing Scheme

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) today commended the United States House of Representatives for passing the DeFazio/Westmoreland Amendment that ensures U.S. airlines and aviation crewmembers are afforded a level playing field for transatlantic flying. The bipartisan amendment attached to the 2015 Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Act (H.R. 4745), introduced by Reps. Flight Attendant Union Elects New Leadership

Orlando, FL – The highest governing body of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), the Board of Directors, today elected new officers to lead the world’s largest Flight Attendant union.  The Board of Directors voted for Sara Nelson as AFA International President, Debora Sutor as International Vice President and re-elected Kevin Creighan for his third term as International Secretary-Treasurer.
