Washington, DC – The National Mediation Board (NMB) today granted the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA’s (AFA) request to declare that the United/Continental merger has created a single transportation system for the purposes of Flight Attendant representation. Flight Attendants Reach Tentative Agreement With AirTran Airways

Association of Flight Attendants Negotiates Pay and Work Rule Improvements

Washington, DC – Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), reached a tentative agreement today with AirTran Airways. Mediated talks took place under the auspices of the National Mediation Board.  The two-year agreement calls for pay increases and enhanced work rules. Specific terms will not be released until the over 2,000 Flight Attendants have had a chance to review the details.

Flight Attendant Union Wins Major Victory For Former Midwest Flight Attendants

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) won a major arbitration today for hundreds of former Midwest Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by AFA. The arbitration award validated AFA’s assertion that the Midwest Flight Attendant contract was violated after Republic Airways Holdings, Inc. purchased Midwest Airlines and staffed the same flights with non-Midwest Flight Attendants, often compensated up to 70 percent less.

AirTran Flight Attendants Continue Six-Weeks Of Picketing in Dallas

Washington, DC – AirTran Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), will continue a “Six Cities in Six Weeks” series of public protests on Wednesday, March 9 in Dallas. As management continues to stall contract negotiations, Flight Attendants’ frustrations escalated recently over reports that top AirTran executives will be receiving nearly $20 million in merger bonuses. Delta Air Lines Sued For Discriminating Against Former Union Members

Washington, DC – Determined to fight back against discrimination based solely on their status as former union members, several Delta Flight Attendants, with the assistance of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), filed a lawsuit today against Delta Air Lines management.  The lawsuit, filed in a U.S. District Court on behalf of pre-merger Northwest Flight Attendants, comes after Delta management withheld higher profit sharing checks from over 7,500 pre-merger Northwest Flight Attendants based solely upon their prior union membership.

Flight Attendants Get Cabin Health and Safety Standards in Senate’s FAA Reauthorization

Washington, DC – Members of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) put key U.S. Senate offices on speed dial in a successful call-in campaign to press for long-overdue health and safety protections: Yesterday, the Senate defeated an attempt to strip OSHA protections for Flight Attendants from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Bill. The amendment to remove health and safety protections for Flight Attendants and passengers, including sanitation and temperature standards in the aircraft cabin, was rejected by a 52-47 party line vote.
