Flight Attendants At New United Airlines Commence Historic Single Contract Negotiations

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) at the new United Airlines today began to set the stage for negotiations on a single contract covering over 25,000 Flight Attendants. These historic negotiations will unify Flight Attendants from pre-merger United, Continental and Continental Micronesia under one agreement. Earlier this year, Flight Attendants from each subsidiary ratified separate contracts, paving the way for joint negotiations.

On August 22, 1945, the dedication of five Flight Attendants, determined to take a stand against unbearable standards where young women were forced to retire at the age of 32, remain unwed and childless, and adhere to strict weight, height and appearance requirements, came to fruition with the creation of the Air Line Stewardesses Association.

Piedmont Airlines Flight Attendants Support Strike by Strong Majority

Washington, DC – Piedmont Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), today sent a loud and clear message that if management fails to negotiate a new agreement, a strike could result at the airline. Flight Attendants at Ryan International Ratify First Contract

Washington, DC – Flight Attendants at Ryan International Airlines, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), today ratified their first contract. The agreement, reached in June with the assistance of the National Mediation Board, includes job security and valuable protections for nearly 200 Flight Attendants. American Eagle Flight Attendants To Vote On Tentative Agreement

Washington, DC – Flight Attendant leaders from American Eagle, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), today unanimously approved the recent tentative agreement and will now send it out to the over 1,800 Flight Attendants for a vote. AFA American Eagle leadership convened a special meeting to review the terms of the agreement, announced on July 27 and, after a review of the provisions, recommended that the membership vote to ratify the deal.

Flight Attendants Gain Chance to Vote on Contract Instead of Having Terms Imposed

Washington, DC – American Eagle Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), announced a tentative agreement today after months of negotiations between AFA and American Eagle management. Once approved by union leadership, the agreement will provide Flight Attendants with the opportunity to vote on whether to ratify the agreement instead of being subject to the bankruptcy court’s imposition of terms dictated by management.
