FCC chairman seeks to keep voice-call ban on planes

WASHINGTON (April 10, 2017) — Cellphone calls will continue to be prohibited during airline flights under an order the head of the Federal Communications Commission proposed Monday, which would end consideration of lifting the ban.

Millions of Pensions in Jeopardy without Vote on Miner's Protection Act

Washington, D.C. (April 5, 2017) — Our nation's miners will lose their healthcare and pensions on April 30th if Congress fails to take a simple action to re-purpose funds that already exist for these benefits. 

New Security Restrictions for 10 Middle East and Africa Departure Airports with Commercial Flights to the United States

The Homeland Security Department (DHS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) issued new security restrictions today for flights directly from eight countries in the Middle East and Africa to the United States. Airlines departing from these countries are now required to prevent passengers from carrying all personal electronic devices larger than a cell phone or smartphone.

AFA Rallies at EWR for U.S. Aviation Jobs

March 12, 2017 — AFA members, ALPA and other unions, along with United Airlines management, rallied at Newark Airport to protest the launch of Emirates Airlines flight from Athens to Newark. This route is permissible under the U.S.-Gulf States Open Skies agreements. However, Emirates is only able to enter this obscure market due to enormous subsidies received from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government, in violation of this same agreement.
