Update on Prop 65 Lawsuit: Contaminated Uniforms at Envoy, Piedmont, PSA, and AA

April 19, 2019 — Last year AFA together with one our members filed a lawsuit against the uniform manufacturers Twill Hill and Aramark, and American Airlines.

The Proposition 65 (Prop 65) lawsuit was filed on June 29, 2018, in Alameda County Superior Court in Oakland, California. The case names uniform suppliers TwinHill and Aramark, their suppliers Tailored Brands and PVH, and American Airlines (AA) as defendants This amended complaint was filed on February 23, 2019, and can be downloaded view here. The wholly-owned regionals are not explicitly named because AA makes the uniform decisions for regional Flight Attendants, but AFA Flight Attendants at PSA, Piedmont, and Envoy will still be affected by the outcome of this case because you wear the same uniforms.

Measles Outbreak

April 18, 2019 — Flight Attendants are on the frontlines of any public health outbreak. Our hearts are with the El Al Flight Attendant and Cathay Pacific Flight Attendant who are battling measles. Our thoughts are with them for a full recovery. Their suffering should give the public and crew urgency to heed the recommendations of health officials. 

Support Stop & Shop Workers on Strike in New England!

31,000 United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Stop & Shop workers went on strike yesterday at 240 stores in New England. The company has tried to increase employees’ health care costs and also cut pension benefits for new hires. We stand with our UFCW sisters and brothers!

Huge Turnout in Chicago for AFA Air Wisconsin Flight Attendants

Thank you to everyone who came out to ORD yesterday to support AFA Air Wisconsin Flight Attendants! Almost 100 people demonstrated to pressure Air Wisconsin management and United Airlines to negotiate a fair contract. Air Wisconsin Flight Attendants were joined by Flight Attendants from United, Frontier, Spirit, Envoy, AFA International Officers, UNITE HERE!, CWA 4900, ALPA, AFGE, DSA Fox Valley, NABET, UAW, Chicago Federation of Labor, Chicago Airport Police, and even passengers.
