Washington, DC (November 6, 2018) —  The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) representing 50,000 Flight Attendants at 20 airlines, including United, is calling out an industry that has succumbed to pressures from Wall Street to cut service for passengers and reduced Flight Attendant staffing. United on Monday announced it will reduce service by pre-plating meals on the ground and eliminate a Flight Attendant position on certain international widebody flights beginning February 2019, to “align” with staffing levels at American and Delta.

Miami Air Flight Attendants Ratify New Contract

Emotional Support Animals Negatively Affecting Air Travel

Flight Attendant Union Calls on DOT to Take Action

September 13, 2018 — A new national survey of flight attendants released today by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) found that over 98% of all respondents had worked a flight with at least one emotional support animal onboard in the last 24 months.

AFA has called on the Department of Transportation to take action to limit abuse of the ‘emotional support animal’ designation in the system. Eighty-two percent of all responding flight attendants strongly believe a consistent policy throughout the airline industry is needed to define requirements while supporting passengers with disabilities and veterans.

Flight Attendant Union Holds Moment of Silence to Honor September 11 Heroes

Washington, DC (September 11, 2018) – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) issued the following statement on the 17th year since the September 11, 2001 attacks changed the country and the Flight Attendant profession forever:

“On September 11, 2001, twenty-five Flight Attendants took action as first responders in a war we didn’t know we were fighting. These heroes were among the first to relay the intelligence that alerted our country and our flying partners on Flight 93, who in turn sacrificed their own lives to save countless others on the ground.
