Frontier Flight Attendants Hold Informational Picket

Denver — Flight Attendants at Frontier Airlines will picket Tuesday at Denver International Airport to pressure Frontier management to work to bring Flight Attendant negotiations to a close. Picketing will continue over the busy summer travel season unless contract negotiations are resolved. This could mean turbulent skies ahead for labor relations at Frontier Airlines. Last week, Frontier Pilots requested a release from federal mediation, edging closer to a possible strike.

Washington, D.C. (April 28, 2018) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA President Sara Nelson released the following statement on 30th remembrance of Aloha Flight 243 and Workers Memorial Day:

“In 1970, the AFL-CIO declared April 28th as Workers’ Memorial Day, remembering those who have died on the job and redoubling our efforts to maintain and promote safety at work. The great union organizer and activist Mother Jones gave us the rallying slogan for the day, 'Mourn for the dead and fight like hell for the living.' This is our charge and we take it seriously in everything we do to improve our contracts, organize the unorganized, and demand the safest regulations and standards for our jobs.

Washington, DC (April 27, 2018) — The 50,000 Flight Attendants at 20 airlines represented by the Association of Flight Attendants–CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA), today cheered the House of Representatives vote for the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 (H.R. 4). The bill includes the union’s top safety priority for equal minimum rest with the flight deck, protections against eroding U.S. aviation jobs, and enhancements to the security of our aviation system.

Atlantic City, NJ (April 10, 2018) – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) directly-elected leaders from twenty airlines today re-elected Sara Nelson as International President by acclamation to serve the new four year term. Debora Sutor was re-elected as International Vice President and Kevin Creighan as International Secretary-Treasurer.

SEATTLE (April 3, 2018) — Alaska Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA), today voted by 75 percent to ratify a joint collective bargaining agreement (JCBA) covering over 5,700 Flight Attendants at Alaska Airlines and former Virgin America.

Washington, D.C. (March 19, 2018) — Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) International President Sara Nelson will testify before the Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues on combating sexual harassment and assault in the service sector. The hearing, starting at 2:00pm Eastern, will be broadcast on C-SPAN 3.

SEATTLE (February 14, 2018) — The leaders of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), representing Alaska Airlines and former Virgin America Airlines, reached an agreement with Alaska Airlines on a joint collective bargaining agreement (JCBA) covering over 5,400 Flight Attendants.

DENVER (February 5, 2018) — Frontier Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), will urge passengers to tell Frontier to bargain for a fair contract. Flight Attendants will leaflet at six major airports on Monday, February 5, 2018.

(February 1, 2018) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) is thrilled with United Airlines’ announcement of a new policy that increases requirements for emotional support animals, following a 75 percent year-over-year increase in emotional support animals onboard the airline's flights.
