Washington, D.C. (August 10, 2017) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) congratulates David Pekoske on his swearing in as administrator of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). AFA International President Sara Nelson today issued the following statement:

Washington, DC (August 7, 2017) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) this week will urge the flying public to tell American and United regional carrier Mesa Airlines to bargain for a fair contract with Mesa Flight Attendants. Mesa Flight Attendants authorized a strike in March, with a 99.56 percent vote.

July 25, 2017 — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) today praised Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), with Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), and Edward J. Markey (D-MA) who introduced the Cabin Air Safety Act, legislation to protect airline passengers and crew from the harmful effects of toxic cabin air. 

AFA Calls on Leaders of Aviation to 'Stand with US'

Washington, DC (July 10, 2017) — Remarks by Qatar Airways' CEO Akbar Al Baker, posted online, exposed the airline's discriminatory practices and war on women as he called American carriers "crap," U.S. Flight Attendants "grandmothers," and boasted "his" Qatar cabin crew were an average age of 26. The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) President Sara Nelson stated the following on behalf of the union's 50,000 Flight Attendant members at 20 airlines:

AFA Statement on Senate Markup of FAA Reauthorization Bill

Washington, DC (June 29, 2017)  — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) issued the following statement on the Senate FAA Reauthorization Bill (S.1405) as it moves out of the Commerce Committee to the full Senate:

Washington, DC (June 28, 2017) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) praises Senator Richard Blumenthal’s (D-CT) amendment to the Senate FAA Reauthorization Bill (S.1405) with support from Senator Ed Markey (D-MA). The amendment calls for fume event training for flight crewmembers, improves contaminated air reporting requirements, and add sensors to air systems on commercial aircraft. 

Washington, D.C. (June 27, 2017) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) praised Aviation Subcommittee Chair Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ) for moving forward the Flags of Convenience Don’t Fly Here Act (H.R. 2150) in the 21st Century Aviation Innovation, Reform, and Reauthorization Act (AIRR Act, H.R. 2997). The bill approved today by the committee advances priority safety and job protections for Flight Attendants.

Phoenix, Arizona (June 23, 2017) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) leaders from 20 airlines will protest outside Mesa Airlines headquarters on Friday, June 23, 2017 in solidarity with Mesa Flight Attendants' fight for a fair contract.

Washington, DC (June 23, 2017) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) called on the Heritage of Pride, organizers of the NYC Pride Parade, to allow all airline employees to participate in the parade with pride in self and the advancements they've made where they work. Heritage of Pride’s exclusive corporate sponsorship contracts prohibit all but one airline from "showing pride" in the NYC Pride parade.

Washington, DC (June 22, 2017) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) cheered Chairman Shuster’s introduction of H.R. 2997, the 21^st Century AIRR Act, that includes the union’s top safety priority of 10 hours minimum rest for Flight Attendants - equal to the flight deck - and a Fatigue Risk Management Plan (FRMP).
