AFA Honors September 11th Heroes

(September 13, 2019) - From New York to Fort Lauderdale, from San Diego to Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., AFA members around the nation honored our heroes 18 years after the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

Never Forget

September 10, 2019

Aviation security is personal to us. No matter the uniform we wear, the routes we fly, or the years we have worn our wings we will always remember the events of September 11th, lift up heroes and do everything in our power to ensure the events are never repeated.

September 7 NYC Labor Day Parade

(September 7, 2019) – The march was organized by Endeavor AFA Local 45 (EDV AFA) Flight Attendants, but many other AFA Councils were also in attendance along with AFA International Officers. We marched with our CWA sisters and brothers too.

2019 AFA September 11th Events and Honor Guard

September 6, 2019 — Our fourth annual AFA Honor Guard will attend services at our nation’s three national memorials to ensure the public remembers the sacrifice of Flight Attendants. This Honor Guard is comprised of Flight Attendants who have done work to advance our Never Forget priorities:

September 6, 2019 — Last year we successfully achieved 10 Hours minimum rest free from duty under the law. According to the legislation timeline and past practice on implementation of new rules, airlines should have had to comply with the law by the beginning of June 2019. Instead, a few airlines mounted significant opposition to the implementation and argued it would be too costly and difficult to implement. The Government Shutdown and the Boeing 737Max grounding further delayed the implementation of hundreds of provisions of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018.

Labor Day 2019

September 2, 2019 — Happy Labor Day, Flight Attendants! For Aviation’s First Responders it’s another day at the office with 17.5 million people traveling on our planes over the holiday. But this day is more than a long weekend that marks the end of summer. This is our day as working Americans and it’s an opportunity to focus the public on the history that’s not taught in schools about the struggles of working people to achieve the rights we have today. August 30, 2019 — AFA sends our love to the family of Captain Al Haynes. His heroic efforts in Sioux City, Iowa, just over 30 years ago, and throughout his flying career, leave us a lasting legacy of safety in flight. We will honor him in our work for safe skies every day.
